Anglesey Off Shore Dinghy and Catamaran Race 2014

Sunday the 10th of August is the date for this years Anglesey Offshore Dinghy and Catamaran Race.

For those who have not taken part before or haven’t heard of the event the format is; a race from Beaumaris to Redwarf Bay. The dinghies do a 13mile course and the cats a 30mile course. It’s a fantastic event with usually about a 100 boats taking part and is my favourite of the year, all sailed in some stunning scenery.

Myself and a few others are going to camp in Beaumaris on the Friday night making a weekend of it, sailing on the Saturday as well. It would be great to get as many Dee Sailing Club sailors making a weekend of it too. With the event being so popular the campsites fill up pretty quickly so I’m going to book this week. If you are wanting to camp over too the campsite we have stayed at in previous years is kingsbridge:

and through past experience it’s a good idea to book sooner than later….

If people who are going or wanting to go could let me know so we can work out logistics in advance that would be great. Sailing one way from Beaumaris means either trailers have to get from Beaumaris to Redwarf Bay or Sailors back to Beaumaris to pick up their trailers and cars. In the past some kind volunteers have stacked trailers together and given lifts, but it can be carnage after the race with a 100+ people getting boats sorted before prize giving.

It’s a good idea to enter in advance too as there is a limited 120places available. You can enter at:
